Introduction

Studying abroad is the action that students study somewhere other than their own country. It can be primary, secondary and post-secondary education. When someone studied abroad they called “Foreign or international student”.

To study in foreign country you should have student visa that is a legal document which let students to study in foreign country for a certain period of time. Students can study at schools, colleges, universities or institutions which have a permission to host international students depends on different ages.

This type of visa is non-immigrant and does not grant citizenship that means the person is bound to leave the host country after a certain time.

When you want to study in foreign country you must have study permit except student visa. You should get a letter of acceptance from the institution you want to study in.

You should apply for a student visa within six months of your study program starts. If you apply too early or too late, you will maybe reject and your application fee will lose.

The processing time of your application depends on various factors including your nationality, your residence, your study section and the destination country.

The duration of student visa depends on the duration of your educational program up to five years.

If you are under 18 you should study at primary or secondary school.

If you are at least 17 years old and you passed 12th grade, you can study at colleges or universities according to your purpose of study.

Study in college have age limit that means If you are under 30 you are eligible to study at college. To study bachelor’s degree you must be up to 35 and for master or PhD you must up to 45 years old.

Colleges and universities differ in their study program and degrees type.

Colleges emphasize on undergraduate education but universities have the variety in undergraduate and graduate education. Generally universities have focus on research but colleges focus on skills development.

When you studied in a college you prepared yourself to be a specialized in career and have various opportunities to find job.

 

Rules:

  • With student visa you can only work limited hours (usually 20 hours per week)
  • You cannot stay in host country after the expiry date of your visa
  • You cannot be a permanent resident under the student visa

When your visa expires you have to extend your permission or switch to another valid visa program.

After your visa expires you must return home and leave the country. Some countries let you to work there according to the duration of your study. That means you have opportunity to work in that country equivalent to the duration of your study.

Requirements:

  • Passport with at least six months validity
  • Your visa application form
  • Latest degree with transcripts
  • Letter of acceptance from your course provider
  • A bank statement to your financial ability to cover your course fees and living costs
  • Determine the financial sponsor and his sponsorship documents
  • Your biometric information
  • Health and criminal record certificate

Some students are eligible to bring their partner, dependent children or parents. If you are under 18, you must have someone with you as guardian or written consent from both parents

 

Reasons for student visa refusal:

  • Incorrect information or document
  • Lack of financial support
  • Irrelevance of your study program and your previous degree
